Have you heard about this year's crazy fashion month? September, which this year was that much more dramatic and busy, has shown us the upcoming trends of this autumn once again. We have all seen the newest fashion shows or at least seen a tiny glimpse of them somewhere online. Maybe it's the brand new Ralph Lauren, adored by Sofia Richie, or Paris Fashion Week and the drama behind it, Sofia Richie, Kylie Jenner, and Kim K, await you in this brand new Legit article. No matter if you're a fashion expert or are completely clueless and just want to know a little more about clothes, this article is for you!
Starting with Paris Fashion Week, this year was especially filled with brand-new concepts and ideas. We had butterflies fluttering INSIDE a dress in Undercover, the cube-shaped skirt of the dress had an entire ecosystem captured, plants and butterflies paired with light inside of the dress and fabulous fabric work. Obviously, you can't see this on the streets, however, I did want to give a bit of credit for this incredible piece of work!
Givenchy:
Givenchy showing us how to wear socks and heels. Don't be fooled, socks OVER the heel, obviously. Givenchy has already made a risky decision to debut socks and heels on the runway back in 2010, but this year they took an even more extreme turn. Mathew M. Williams, the Givenchy creative director, definitely deserves applause. The brave styling of a thin sock, with a contrasting heel, gave Williams an advantage for the next season. Who knows, maybe when you're walking around the street you might see someone walking in these? Could they be the brand-new viral shoe trend?
Rick Owens:
The next brand with a bit of drama on set is a brand that you can either love or hate: Rick Owens! Rick Owens, you can talk about all day, the strange but fabulous silhouettes, the oversized and the mini, Rick Owens changes and ranges. One fact that never changes, Rick Owens always brings on a theatrical runway. This season especially, the collection can be described as ‘post-apocalyptic dressing’. The collection was lined with utilitarian jumpsuits that covered the body completely including sheer masks and ensembles with horned shoulders.
The setting of the show did not leave its guests disappointed either, with stone steps paired with the dramatic collection full of contrasting silhouettes and fabrics. The dual-coloured smoke clouds — could have been straight out of a scene from The Last of Us. It was ominous in the best way. Overall Rick Owens left off on a note where the audience could not have been left wanting more.
Sofie Richie:
Who is a celebrity that we all know, love, and adore? The icon of quiet luxury? Old money aesthetic? Our favourite Chanel girl with David Yurman jewels - Sofia Richie! Sofia has especially gone viral this spring when she had the most gorgeous wedding of the year, which was ALL over social media. Vlogs of Get Ready With Me influencers started getting viral, Chanel was working hard on Sofia’s outfits, not to mention the drop-dead gorgeous venue where the wedding was held. Sofia and Elliot were the ‘It’ couple, and still are! Sofia’s fashion sense has caught the public eye since she was 17, her boho and bright outfits weren't quite for everyone, however, she did follow the trends of that time.
Sofia Richie’s style transformation has become quite the topic, going from flashy and mainstream to more subtle luxury. Her style in 2022 and 2023 has had all of Instagram and TikTok in a chokehold, causing a trend. Everything from her makeup routine, to her outfits and style, people started to copy. Her love for Chanel and Ralph Lauren has been noticed and noted by the public. This autumn, the predictions are endless of what aspects of Sofia's style will now become a trend. Her neutral colours in her outfits, the classic jeans and flats will be seen everywhere. Sofia will bring back flats over chunky boots, as well as straight jeans instead of the usual baggy styles we see.
Kylie Jenner:
Kylie Jenner. The youngest Kardashian-Jenner sister has launched her very own clothing line KHY. The first launch contains a capsule collection of faux leather garments, such as tops, dresses, coats, and trousers. The first collection is completely black, simple, and straightforward.
Every single piece from the trenchcoats down to the gloves is made of black faux leather. Kylie has also announced a second launch, which will contain more earthy grey and khaki tones, as well as a pop of colour. It will consist of puffer jackets, oversized and cropped, and base layers such as form-fitting jumpsuits and bodysuits. This autumn, thanks to Kylie, we will see a sudden spike in leather clothing. It will be full-length dresses and tops made of black leather on the streets, paired with leather trench coats to create a full look. As well as puffer jackets being incorporated in a monochromatic look, either oversized or cropped.
Kim Kardashian:
Kim K, the Kardashian sister we all know and think of whenever the name Kardashian is mentioned, will also play a role in this autumn’s trends. Her brand skims which most of us know for their famous shapewear, has been hot for quite some time. In this season, we will see her iconic shapewear and dresses but in brown and black colours, avoiding beige and white.
To close this article, it is absolutely illegal not to talk about the ICON of autumn 2023! Is it a celebrity? A brand? No, absolutely not, it is a colour. Burgundy red. Burgundy red has made a comeback every autumn and every now and then, but this year it absolutely showed up and showed us all how it is done. Burgundy red nails, sweaters, bags, and shoes will definitely find their way into everybody’s closet, or at least their Instagram feed. The YSL bag, or perhaps the cherry red Lady Dior or Saddle, or the Miu Miu flats, paired with a comfy scarf and black base will be the most desired look of this season. Hermes Birkins in that “Cherry” colour has become in quite high demand, and the “Cherry” nails are EVERYWHERE. In a neutral-colored outfit, cherry red will make its way into this autumn.
